A Comparative Study of FFT Based Frequency Estimation Using Different Interpolation Techniques

Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is a commonly used method in electronic support systems for frequency parameter estimation. If the of radar signal not an exact multiple resolution, this will usually appear inter-line position when FFT applied. To improve accuracy estimated frequency, interpolation techniques are to find peak between two spectral lines. In study, by employing three different (Ding, Voglewede and Hanning window based interpolation) output obtained applying N-point intermediate (IF) signal. addition, unlike literature, behavior signals contaminated with Laplace noise as well Gaussian were analyzed these their performances compared. From analysis results, Ding reduced error rate at all frequency. However, window-based improved values 500MHz 750MHz, but it increased 250MHz 1000MHz frequencies. The rates frequencies can be sorted from lowest highest follows: Ding, interpolation.
